I am very proud to be beginning my fifth year as the Liberty Middle School Botball coach.  Botball is basically our version of a robotics club. I limit the team to 20 members, with at least 4 spots reserved for sixth graders.  You must have a C or higher in all of your classes and have received a conduct score of 2 or better in ALL of your classes.  There will be an informational meeting on Tuesday, January 8 during the activity periods.  At this meeting you will receive an application for the Botball team that must be filled out and returned to me by TBA or you will not be considered for the team.

Botball will meet Tuesday - Thursdays after school in room D112 (my classroom).   Meetings are mandatory unless you have an excused absence for school or a valid reason for missing a meeting.  At these meetings you will work cooperatively to build and program robots to complete tasks aligned with the current year's game board.  A  workshop will be held at SIUE TBA, 4 students will be selected by me to attend this workshop.  After this workshop, we will have approximately 6 weeks to complete our bots and our programs before the regional Botball competition held at SIUE on TBA

The following information came from "What is Botball?" on the website www.botball.org

The Botball® Educational Robotics Program engages middle and high school aged students in a team-oriented robotics competition, and serves as a perfect way to meet today’s new common core standards.

By exposing students to an inquiry-based, learn-by-doing activity that appeals to their hearts as well as their minds, Botball® addresses our nation’s need for a well-prepared, creative, yet disciplined workforce with leadership and teamwork experience.

On February 9 & 10, 2019, the Botball® Educator Workshop will be held at SIUE.  This workshop provides team leaders and mentors with technology training and introduces the details of that year's game. Then, after a build period of about 7 weeks, students bring their robots to the regional tournament at SIUE  (Saturday, April 13) to compete against other schools in the current season's game challenge.
